Goodbye Wolverhampton

Dejection for fans of Wolves during the Barclays Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City at Molineux .

Its always a sad time when you get relegated. Although as Wigan fans that experiences is very rare (touch wood). But this post is not to gloat over Wolverhampton Wanderers who fought well and hard for their fans today and everyday and really in my eyes are a better team than some above them. But then the table doesn't lie.

What I am going to say though, is just what it shows you about modern day football and the knee jerk reaction that Chairman especially take over a teams performances.

The point in question is down to the sacking of Mick McCarthy from Wolves in February and since then Wolves have done nothing but slid down the table. And I believe it was that decision that has sent them down.

He is a lovable character Mick. Cheery, lively and he builds football teams to suit that. They always have heart and soul and give their all for the team. That is the kind of football that fans love to see, and it was what we had been accustom to seeing Wolves do since their return to the Premier League.

Last season they battled on and gained survival on the last day of the league, but this year they came up short. Due to not being able to win games simple as.

That was down to losing their manager. They then were unable to bring anyone in of the same or better quality which is why you get rid of your manager. Instead what the Wolves board and chairman did was make a fool out of the club. Four managers turn them down and they eventually went for the assistant manager.

I'm not saying that Terry Connors isn't a good manager. But when you get rid of an old one. You need that fresh blood to really change the place dynamics. That point in question goes to QPR who brought in Mark Hughes who has started to get them playing and they could stay up.

Yet if you look at Wigan, and how faithful our chairman is too Roberto Martinez. That shows you what can happen. Let the manager do what he has to do for as long as he needs to do it. That kind of respect and faith in people is slowly seeping its way out of football but not here at Wigan Athletic.

So we say goodbye to Wolves from the Premier League, but hopefully we won't be joining you next season.
