Injury Update: Ivan Ramis Out For Rest of Season

Ian Walton

Another man goes down and it is going to a long hard road for Ramis as he has to overcome a ruptured cruciate ligament. That means the defender will miss the rest of the season, and will only return through the summer.

Ivan Ramis started out as a player we wondered why we had bothered to buy. Then after a month and a few games under his belt in the English game, the defender developed into a quality defender for the club and someone who is a pleasure to watch do his job. The fans have now really taken to him and after scoring two goal against West Ham United we really took him to heart.

Scoring against West Ham is only beaten by scoring against Bolton.

Now we have to deal without the defender yet again. He missed out following a league game against Reading due to a hamstring injury. He returned on Boxing Day, and had started to get back to his usual self. Now after the clash with Dimitar Berbatov against Fulham, we will now miss him all season.

At the time I saw it, I immediately thought he had done his cruciate. Now the club have confirmed it, what are the plans for a replacement? Well Roberto Martinez had said in a interview that he would not look to go buying a defender for the sake of signing cover. Antolin Alcaraz is on the tip of a return, while he has also expressed his faith in young defender in Roman Golobart.
