Club News: Stephen Crainey Becomes Latics New Left Back

Ross Kinnaird

The club needed a new left back after the departure of Maynor Figueroa to Hull City a few weeks ago, and that man is 32 year old Stephen Crainey.

The very experience 32 year old player has become the second signing of what is going to be a very busy summer for Latics. The Scottish international defender who will link up with team mates Shaun Maloney and James McArthur is an excellent signing. The club needed a solid left sided played and Stephen Crainey fits the bill.

With over 214 games for Blackpool at Premier League and Championship level he adds a strong head to our back line with experience of playing in the second tier of English football, something we are missing in our defensive options.

Signing on a one year contract with what will be a small wage, sounds like good business to me, and indicates how good Owen Coyle is going to be when bringing in new players to the club.
