The Johnstone's Paint Trophy the chance for all the bottom two Football League tier teams to get their hands on some silverware. We have won it twice in our history over the years, so wouldn't it be nice to add a third. It all comes down to just who takes to the feel tonight. The changes that you might expect, aren't likely to be forthcoming.
There will be one change though with Craig Morgan serving his suspension after the rather bizarre red card given out to him at the weekend. Does that mean we could see another young face feature for Wigan? Could Jack Hendry be given the chance to make his first start for Wigan Athletic.
It is also important to note that David Love and Will Griggs will miss the game as they join their respective international teams ahead of the break. That gives a chance for someone else to fill in on the right hand side of the defense, Max Power would be more than likely. Whilst our Middlesbrough loan signing in Yanic Wildschut is in line for his first start after an impressive second half against Walsall.
How about Crewe then? We managed to get a 1-0 win over them at the DW Stadium back in August. They will be out for revenge.
Manager Steve Davis has said that he will field a strong side to try and get a win and lift the mood at the Alexandra Stadium. They have managed one win so far this season and currently prop up the bottom of the league One table. So getting a win could be the prefect boost they need to kickstart their season.
Stephen Kingsley and Harry Wilson will both miss out for tonight's game with the pair heading off on international duty. Whilst Canadian striker Marcus Haber has been allowed to stay with Crewe till after the game before joining up with the Canadian International team.
The teams will be out in the next few minutes and we will be able to see just how serious Gary Caldwell will take this competition. Hopefully very as it is a realistic opportunity for us to win some silverware this season.
