Wigan start the month with back to back cup games. This coming weekend sees us travel to Gigg Lane for our third meeting of the season with Bury. So far it is one win to Bury and a draw, this time we need to change things. Question is will Gary Caldwell change his side?
The answer I think will be somewhere in the middle. With the club set to face Blackpool in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match at home next mid-week I feel Gary might be clever and rotate half the team for one game and the other half for the next one. That way everyone has had a game time and some rest before we start back off in the League.
This month sees us take on some tricky opposition with Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town, Burton Albion and Southend United all to face in the coming month. Each of whom have had fairly sold seasons so far. Burton of course the high flyers in second place at the moment.
Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbank brings the midlands team to Wigan on the 24th November that is after games against Rochdale (away) and Shrewsbury Town (home).
Our game against Rochdale will be the first one live on TV this season. The game due to be shown live on Sky Sports News from Spotland on Saturday the 14th at 12:15. Hopefully it will be chance for the lads to continue to show their fine form to the viewing public and make a statement about Wigan Athletic being back.
Two players will miss out though. Both Will Griggs and Daniel Love have been called up for their respective international teams and Wigan Athletic will have to make do without two key players for the trip.
November, much like October, is going to be a busy month with six games crammed in. The chance for cup glory and to continue our rise up the league table.
