Latics 3-1 Blackpool

A day on the seaside well spent for our lads today, its one of those games which fills you with pride when you look and can say well done in everything we did and have done. Today was the point of how hard Martinez, the players and the backroom staff have been working to bring it all together and it showed today. From start to finish we dominated play and rightly got our just reward.

With in three minutes, we had taken the lead through a Rodallega goal, who managed to squeeze the ball through the legs of the returning Gilks. It was well received by the travelling fans, who were in great voice on a day when the lads need our support.

Then came some nervy minutes, when the Blackpool on slaughter came. This is where our defence has to be congratulated for doing so well against a Blackpool attack who this season have been on top of their game. But the rapid closing down of Charlie Adams, saw Blackpool with out their creative spark.

Call upon Charles N'Zogbia, with only a few minutes left of the half, to tip toe his way past the Blackpool defence and round Gilks. Knocking the ball home for 2-0, just about making it over the line. Latics roaring into place and the fans in great voice.

Second half and Latics looked solid as Ben Watson took charge of the midfield. Sitting well winning the ball and really stopping Blackpool from getting much into the game.

The final Latics goal came courtesy of Blackpool. Diame taking control of the ball, his shot took a deflection of Eardley, deceiving goalkeeper for 3-0 to Latics.

Blackpool's goal came to late to threaten the dominating Latics, but is still very much worth a mention. It was a good move after a Phillip's free kick came of the wall, before a Phillip's cross was converted by DJ Campbell. A good little move, which showed just what Blackpool can do.

So it was a great game for Latics and one that has given every Latics fan a big big lift. But one win won't mean anything if we don't follow it up with another.

Next week we face Sunderland with out best chance of winning another game. Although we are playing away, again, i don't think that will change us. Full of confidence and belief with the run in we now have. All eyes must now be on Latics to beat the drop.

Lets hope for another great performance against Brucie next week.
