Mohammed Diame Sidelined?

Steve Sidwell tackling Mohammed Diame, and possibly ruling him out of next weekends game?

The signs didn't look good did they? When Diame was taken from behind by Steve Sidwell, in the weekends game by Fulham. It was in all fairness a fair challenge, the player won the ball. In days gone by that kind of tackling would have been applauded by all. But it caused Diame to go over oddly on his ankle.

Mohamed Diame, in his usual buoyant self tried to carry on. Yet it was apparent to all that his game, had been cut short, and it could cut him out of the Latics line up for the next few weeks. The player has having a scan and the club awaits the results, as to what action will need to be taken.

Roberto Martinez, speaking to the Wigan Observer labelled the challenge as 'horrific', personally I wouldn't go that far, but if it rules out or most influential midfield player. Then he does have a point.

Martinez said:

"We’re hoping it’s just a twisted ankle, after a really bad tackle,"

"It’s hard to tell at the moment, though, we’ll have to see how it develops."

"He’ll have a scan to discover the real damage and if it’s a ligament tear as well.

"If it is, it’s going to be a really long period. The injury to Momo was really disappointing,"
