Captain Gary Caldwell will miss this coming weekends important trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, after picking up his fifth booking of the season, ruling him out for the next game. The defender who had a so so game against Fulham, where he acquired the fifth booking, will not be missed by the fans.
Yet will he be missed by the team?
Since joining from Celtic, Caldwell has been continuously at the centre of our defence. Whether you love or hate him, he does try his best every game for the team. However he is prone to the occasional error or two.
So who will come replace him in the middle of the Wigan defence?
There are three options for Roberto to choose from. Steve Gohuri, Emmerson Boyce and Adrian Lopez. personally I would choose to push Boyce into the centre. Both Gohuri and Lopez are prone to making mistakes at vital times in matches, and this weekends games is not one we can afford to make mistakes in.
If Boyce was to played in the centre. Someone who have to go play right back, this time again there are three players that could slot into the position. Steve Gohuri and Adrian Lopez again, or Ronnie Stam could come into the side. Personally I would choose Stam. He isn't the best defender in the world, but he is better than the rest in my opinion.
