Mohamed Diame, the Senegalese midfielder who's contract is up at the end of this season, appears to be ready to put pen to paper on a new deal. Martinez is keen to get the player tied down to a new deal, as the player has been one of the clubs most influential players since joining from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano in 2009.
This season Diame has been on top of his game, having scored two goals already this season, has he plays a more attacking role in the Latics's midfield. To lose Diame would be a major step back for the team and he is someone that in the past we have failed to keep at the club.
