Well its getting there, these two deals, that I said yesterday were close to being confirmed have today been confirmed that both players are in talks with Wigan about possible moves. The two players would be fine additions to our attacking options, and the step up to Premier League I don't see as much of a big one for either player.
So what are we close to signing.
The 25 year old striker, has had a mix life as a footballer, when he hits top form he is unplayable. Yet injuries over the past few years have really hindered the players development, he was once earmarked to break into the England squad. Yet it has never happened.
But in 197 professional games he has scored 81 goals, all at Championship and League one level. Yet he has scored more at Championship level. His pace is his main threat. Getting in between center backs and being able to break with pace and attack the goal keeper. Maynard does also have an eye for a goal from long range.
A hot talent, that under Martinez could develop very well.
The Chilean Winger arrived in England in 2010 to current club Birmingham city. Since arriving he has been one of their players to watch, his pace and ability to take players on and get a quality ball into the box, has made him a wanted talent.
He has featured for Chile international and played as part of their 2010 world cup squad. He will add a different aspect to our attacking play, it wouldn't surprise me if he played just off the striker looking to mop up on the lose ball on the edge of the box.
