At the beginning of this month i was quite confident of what and who the club would bring in over the January window. The noises that i had heard of player coming in looked to me to be very good, and we could add some really quality to the side to help us fight our way out of the relegation zone.

So where are the players?

The day after the night before. All we have to look at for players brought in, is Jean Beausejour. A very good signing I will admit, but one too little.

When you look at the players who have gone this window you wonder why haven't we looked at them.

Ryan Nelson went on a free to Tottenham, quality defender and he could have had first team football here, why didn't we look at him. Or even get Bassong on loan who has gone to Wolves till the summer.

While we are on about Wolves. Why didn't Martinez look to sign Frimpong on loan first, the talented midfield player really would of added something to our team, okay we have plenty of midfield players, but that bit of bounce in our midfield is missing (Watson and Gomez can not play in the Premier League).

What even gets me more, is that Nicky Maynard, who we looked at signin, we asked the club and could have talked to him about signing, went to West Ham for £1.6 million. Now come on we could have paid that and signed a very talented striker, who can actually score goals.

While Keith Andrews who we were also supposedly after went of to West Brom along with Liam Ridgewell, both player we could have afford to have bought and pay their wages for. Replacing players like Lopez and Gomez who sit in our team and do nothing.

Really this window has been a pretty poor one for Wigan. We have signed one player, and let many more slip away from us. On the outward side, the players we have loaned out have gone to really good clubs and should continue to develop for the future.

But it is our immediate future we needed help with, and we haven't got it.
