Well here we are, at the last of the four games upon which it looked very much like we would get no points, we in actually fact got nine points and were unlucky not to have got ten or even the full twelve. Being cheated against Chelsea really helped us to push on for a great victory against Manchester United.
This time round we are playing an Arsenal side, that after a shaky start to the Premier League, have come bursting into life and could so easily have been challenging for the title had they not slipped up so so early. Now however they are in full force and we face the daunting prospect of needing to pick up points, against a team which isn't dropping them.
The good news for Wigan, is that the rest of the relegation teams dropped points (minus Bolton who didn't play, and Wolves who picked up one point). That is no excuse for not having a top notch performance. The lads shouldn't really be watching what everyone else is doing, instead concentrating on their own football, and picking up our own points.
The plus side will be that we have had a good time to recover for the game, but so will Arsenal. And being able to keep the same lineup will be ever important. That form of continuity saw us stay up last year, and it will see us do it again this year. I know it.
Now to Arsenal like I said have are on a great run, having only been beaten by QPR. And their last two performances have been nothing short but a touch a class, but then again so have ours. You have to hope that th elads will go out a perform the same as they have done and give it their all.
If we want anything against Arsenal, then the best thing to do. Close them down, pass the ball smoothly, keep possession and hit them on the counter attack. Its not going to be easy, but who said it would be.
Arsenal of course are going to come at us and will therefore look to use their strengths. That is their raw pace up front in Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott. That has been our achilles heal this season and in the return fixture earlier in the season that proved to be how they got three goals past us.
This time however we are stronger, confident and ready to do battle.
Keep the Faith!
