Yesterday the second of our stragglers signed for their new club, and it was the turn of Mohamed Diame to depart and stretch out. Of course such a talented player would make the step to a big team, where he would play European football next season, and even play for a team in the title challenge. Wait a minute he signed for West Ham United, how did that happen?

Yes our former midfielder has made the very big step to West Ham, yet another talented player wasted, and it just shows you how money talks these days in football. Instead of going to a bigger English club, he has just moved to a better paid one, managed by the long ball specialist.

Am I being harsh? Probably am, but it frustrates me in modern football how players move because of money, not because it is better for them; or to win silverware. But that the ten thousand a week just isn't enough compared to that sixty thousand.

Anyway all the best Diame in your forthcoming season.
