So currently I am away in the beautiful Island of Cyprus coming to the end of the last and final week. Upon which I will return to a wet and yet happy Olympic England. The past week has been one in which many turn in terms of transfers have taken place, the major one being the part of a Spanish defender Ivan Ramis. The defender now appears to be on his way to Wigan, after his medical at West Ham, fell flat on its face. Now with Wigan matching the bid of West Ham look to be in talks with the defender about the move, more news on any deal is likely to appear within the next 24 hours.
Other transfer news regarding the club seems to come from high and low Tony McMahon seems to be one player that Martinez could make a move on. The right back is a free agent, who could add some versatility to the right hand side of our defence. While other transfer targets according to the papers are DJ Campbell and Genoa midfielder Gargona, which other reports say are wide of the mark.
The other long saga that rolls on his the departure or the staying of Victor Moses. Chelsea have apparently upped their bid to around about 7.5 million, yet whether or not Wigan will be tempted is yet to be seen.
Mean while the team continues to have a succesful pre-season. And one such player to stand out for Wigan, its that man again Marou Boselli. Many Wigan sites are starting to say that he could be the one player that we miss (including us). The striker has hit the target three time already this summer, and doesn't look like stopping. Many reports suggest that he is now more comfortable in England, with his family now also moving to the country. Lets hope that this is true.
Other players that are looking to impress are the young lads that spent last season out on loan. While many Wigan fans, including me, expect many signings this summer. We could be treated to seeing more home grown talent pulling on the Wigan shirt with Callum McManaman, Roman Golobart, Daniel Redmond and Lee Mustoe all having impressed in the past few weeks. That is not including Nouah Dicko is has also reportedly shown his worth, but could make a return to Blackpool for the first part of the season.
One player that has impressed the past weelk is an old fan favourite in Emile Heskey. The striker who was released from Aston Villa has been training with the team to get fit for the new season, has he has yet to find new club. The big centre forward was always loved in Wigan blue, and will be a source of great inspiration for the young players, that want to reach international heights like Heskey has done.
Other likely departures from the club could be Ronnie Stam, which reports both in the UK and Holland suggest the player could be about to move to PSV. That could happen if Wigan sign Mr McMahon.
There is still alot to happen before the start of the season.
