Scouting Report: Arouna Kone

His Kone the man?
His Kone the man?

Arouna Kone, the 28 year old Ivorian striker looks set to become Martinez's fourth signing of the summer. Well that is according to the latest reports out of Spain. The Levante striker who last seaosn bagged 17 goals in 34 appearances has been looked at by several clubs over the past few seasons, including the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. Yet it now looks like Roberto Martinez has beaten them to the player and offer 5 million euros for the player.

He would add something extra to our attacking options and could give us that striker that we have been looking for to score those all important goals. The right age for a striker he would add some much needed experience to our youthful players. And that is something else we have been missing.

In total Kone has played 331 senior games and scored 78 goals. Not a bad return for a striker. Especially when you consider he spent five years at a Sevilla side where we was past from pillar to post and was pushed out of the team, only scoring one goal in his 40 apperances for the club.

I know what your thinking, not another striker who doesn't know where the net his. But everywhere else Kone has had a great strike rate. At PSV he played 53 games and scored 21 goals, now that sound much better don't you think?

Especially if we get him for 5 million euros when in 2007 he was worth 12 million euros. Hopefully he signs and will add a great aspect to the striking options. One key thing is, does this mean Moses will be about to leave the club?
