Injuries: Beausejour and Alcaraz Both Doubts

Well it happens doesn't it. Those pesky injuries that players pick up through the season. Yet when it comes to a team like us, we hope that it doesn't happen to often as we don't have the players to cover them. Yet with that in mind, when we now look like we are going to miss two of our major players ahead of one of the seasons biggest fixtures, you do worry.

But that is the position that Roberto Martinez is now in, with Jean Beausejour still carrying a hamstring injury which kept him out of the start of the season. The Chilean international has stayed in Wigan the past week, and had looked to be ready for this weekends game. Yet the club have more or less confirmed that he will not be featuring in the squad. That is a big blow.

The other big blow, is the news that Antolin Alcaraz will also miss the game, after picking up an injury in the international period. The player played 69 minutes for Paraguay before being substituted. The current report is that he has a slight calf tweak. How serious slight is can vary a lot in football, so more as we get it.

As to what will happen defensively and on the left wing against Manchester United, only time will tell. For me I would push Emmerson Boyce into the center of the defence and then allow Ronnie Stamm and Maynor Figueroa to play as the wing backs.

But I am no Roberto.
