The striker who has yet to kindle his career at Latics could be about to head back to Italy. A previous loan spell two years ago proved very fruitful for Boselli, and it looks like Palermo are up for taking the striker off us.Waste of money. Wast of space in the 25 man squad. Not worth playing in the Premier League. Just some of the remarks attached to our 27 year old Argentinian striker Mauro Boselli. Most of it unfairly, as the strikerhas failed to really grasp his chance in Wigan, scoring five goals in his time with the club. None of which have come in the Premier League.

With six months left on his contract, it was a case of the striker stepping up to the plate or moving on. There have been two Boselli's this season. One a confident striker who can make magic happen, the other a man lacking in the basics and ot worth playing in any kind of top league.

Whatever the reasons for the striker not taking to the English game, I don't think we can question his work rate. He has for the best part but his effort into any game he has played, and had he scored in one of the game, maybe that could have sparked his rise to prowess. It hasn't come and Wigan have seen thier money wasted. It looks like he could be on his way to Italy to try a different type of football.

In his time at Genoa two seasons ago, Boselli had something resembiling form. He managed to get two goals in his seven appearances for the club, and was widely respected by thier fans and managment. It looked possible he could have joined Genoa permently in the summer, but nothing happened. Now with a week to go in the transfer window, the striker has reportedly flown to Italy ahead of completing a loan deal till the end of the season.

Was he game against Sunderland his last in a Latics blue shirt? If the rumours are true, it could be.
