Its been a hard month for Wigan in the Premier League after only picking up two points, both of which came away from the DW Stadium. Yet on a good note, the club have excelled in the FA Cup and now have a fifth round tie to be played on Sunday 17th February at 4pm in front of the ITV camara's.
So some good news for the club, but whom out of our squad has impressed you the most.
Roman Golobart - Three very very good FA Cup games in the heart of the Wigan defence where he bossed the games. He really has become a true Wiganer over his time and the club, and he has been a player I have long awaited to see take flight into the Premier League. This came true on Tuesday when he started against Stoke City and had an exceptional game. A great lad, and a talented player, has he been the best in January?
Franco Di Santo - Two goals in the month of January, taking his tally for the season up to five. The striker has started to come into his own in the lone role up front since the departure of Arouna Kone. Last season Franco had a better second half, is he about to do it again? Both of his goals have been high class with a touch of quality of both.
James McArthur - One goal (arguably a second although given as an own goal) coupled with an assist against Stoke for Di Santo. The midfielder has stepped it up a gear going forward this month and has shown he can produce some real quality end products when give the chance.
Roger Espinoza - The Honduran midfielder has shown why Martinez wanted him. Two good games fro the club in the FA Cup, followed up by a great substitute performance against Sunderland which nearly changed the game in Wigan's favour. Following that he played the full 90 minutes against Stoke City and controlled the attacking edge of our midfield and was influence for both of our goals.
