Man of the Match vs Huddersfield Town

A lovely, and much needed 3 points!

Paul Thomas

A win is always brilliant, and now we sit 10th in the league with a game in hand over everybody else that could possibly take us to 8th, or even 7th if we feel particularly goal hungry. Perhaps the season didn't start as well as we'd have liked but the team certainly seems to coming together now and more wins like this will be our road to a promotion fight.

Leon Barnett had a cracking game. His header was terrific and he worked hard in defence. Ryan Shotton had a few good moments too though the deflection was an unfortunate one. Lee Nicholls is also shining at the moment, he is yet to have a bad game and he looks to be growing into a very capable goalkeeper. Chris McCann had a good showing in midfield, as did Ben Watson and Jordi Gomez. Callum McManaman seems to steadily be finding his old form and attacked well this game. Overall the midfield and style of play is really starting to come together. There are certainly sloppy plays sometimes but I'm starting to feel that the players are settling into their roles.

However, the stand out player for me was once again Nick Powell. This lad has to be one of the best signings we've made in a long time. He's performing week in and week out and delivering quality performances. I'll be sad to see him leave the club when his loan spell ends, but I hope and pray we resign him in future seasons because Powell is most definitely going to be a world class player if he keeps up this hard working ethic.
