It’s been a long time in the coming the return of Antolin Alcaraz, and his seven minute cameo appearance against Reading at the weekend was his first game time since the 4-1 win over Nottingham in the Carling Cup in September.
Great to see from the Paraguayan, his influence in this team will be extremely important towards the end of this season with the games starting to rack up. The further we go into the FA Cup the more players we need to keeps legs fresh.
One other such player that could help to keep legs fresh is Adrian Lopez. The Spanish defender has been out of the team since Norwich City after a nasty looking injury to the groin; the player pulling up immediately after sustaining it. He made his return against Macclesfield in January, but was unable to continue his return after straining the injury.
Monday saw Lopez play the full 90 minutes for the under 21 side; again more great progress from our injured players.
The final great news concerns Ben Watson. The midfielder suffered his broken leg against Liverpool in the reverse fixtures this season. After surgery to set the leg, the cast came off and Watson is now back in full light training. Martinez talking this week revealed that the player is now training on the grass with the rest of the lads.
