First to Jean Beausejour who against West Bromwich Albion was running over to the left hand side to follow a Billy Jones run; yet the wing-back was limping heavily and ,after Jones had beaten him and got a shot off at goal, sat down.
Jean was then stretchered off the pitch, which in any situation is not a good thing to see. At the time it was his hamstring he was holding, and it had now been confirmed it is the hamstring that is injured; with it being a tear.
Losing Beausejour was bad enough, but Ronnie Stam looks like he had managed the maddest injury of the season.
The full-back had only been on the pitch for a minute before going into a tackle. Stam then sat out of the side-line. The player tried to get to his feet but each time struggled to hold himself up. The medical staff took a good five minutes at pitch side to look at him, before he walked down the tunnel.
At the time I felt it was just a turned ankle. In which case you would have expected the player to pick himself up and carry on. Roberto Martinez though had another story to tell; the injury looking increasingly like a broken leg.
Our defender are starting to run a bit thin at the moment.
