It has been no secret that Jackk Hobbs is a player that Uwe Rosler wants at the club. At the start of January we were supposedly in for the player, then eventually last week Steve Bruce confirmed that us and Reading had been given permission to talk to the defender. Since then Nottingham Forrest and Leicester City have both reportedly had offers accepted.
Talks with Hobbs has yet to be confirmed by Wigan, and we only have the word of former Wigan manager and current Hull City boss Steve Bruce on the current situation. The question would have to be why would Bruce give false information regarding the situation? I don't think he would so I believe our interest has been genuine.
The news now is that Wigan are on the verge of signing the player. There was rumors yesterday of the player and an other unknown player being in Wigan at the youth center yesterday. I very rarely take such things seriously, however in the past few hours the bookmakers have slashed our odds to sign Hobbs.
At the start of the day we were 4/1, we have now dropped to evens. The bookmakers very rarely get these sort of things wrong, or if they do they come very close to the right decision.
Nothing concrete but watch this space around a possible deal happening.
