They are closing in and the sooner the better in my book. The two players (Ben Watson and Chris McCann) have been a massive miss for us, they formed an unbelievable partnership in the midfield under Uwe Rosler at the start of his reign, they kept our midfield balanced and controlled; which we are massively without at the moment.
The fact that they are closing in on a return together is great news. McCann was expected to be back first around the end of October with Watson following up later on in November. Both of them look to be ahead of schedule, the case now is trying to introduce them slowly and effectively back into the team.
The fact they were both able to play 60 minutes, all be it a friendly (playing against Everton), is a very good sign. The next step now is getting them playing in the reserve team and for them to last 90 minutes. If they can start doing that then they may starting appearing on the bench around the beginning of November.
I don't think the return of the two of them can come soon enough for the under pressure Rosler.
