The player has been reportedly unsettled for months. Under Uwe Rosler he was harshly isolated and then worked his way back into the team, and now under Mackay he looked to become a bench warmer. With his contract up in six months and the player wanting to move back to America to be with family, its easy to see why he would take this option.
It is a sad day though as another one of our FA Cup winners, and yet another talented player is pushed away from our club. The sad fact is that since the departure of Roberto Martinez the squad that we had has fallen to pieces and we do have players who are unsettled and unhappy.
Espinoza has long since been linked with a return back to Kansas City where we signed him from over two seasons ago around about this time. The player who had the summer prior to his move bossed the Olympic games football tournament showed us why with a string of powerful high energy performances. Combine that with his versatility and powerful left foot, Roger Espinoza, like all our former Honduran's has gone down as yet another fan favourite.
I would like to wish Roger all the best, a great servant over his time at the club and a player who's game changing energy was never used well enough by managers, and he will be missed by the fans.
