So the defending champions beat the them they faced in the previous final for a place in this years semi-final. Things are getting interesting!
It was a fabulous win and an exciting match for everyone except of course the City fans who, as always, seem to always have someone to blame. Poor Dimichelis... to be fair he was poor.
Regardless though, it was a fantastic win for the Latics after a terrific month that saw the gaffer earn Manager of the Month and the win over Nottingham Forest earn Match of the Month. The team is certainly starting to come together like never before. Perhaps we are on to the winner now! But of course don't hold your breath - Arsenal are next.
But before I jump too far ahead let's look at the stand outs from this game. It's pretty simple really isn't it? Emmerson Boyce is the absolute choice for Man of the Match. His performance and energy was inspirational and a block that just took my breath away.
Let's not forget to give the nod of appreciation though to James McArthur for setting up a brilliant second goal, as well as Jordi Gomez for being his instrumental self. James Perch for scoring and clearing, Callum McManaman for a lovely piece of skill I didn't expect at all, and Scott Carson for working so hard in goal once more.
We were dodgy at the end, there's not doubt that City are not a team to take lightly, but we survived and we won. We can do this! We can do it again!!
