Is Adnan Januzaj really that good?

I look at United's "wonderkid" to see if he really is the next Messi?

Laurence Griffiths

The 19 year old burst onto the Old Trafford scene with a brace of goals to give Manchester United a 2-1 against Sunderland at the start of the season. Adnan Januzaj has had an impressive first season this year and does look a good player however is he what Manchester United "Fans" are making him out to be?

Januzaj started his career at Anderlecht at the age of 10 in 2005 where he then left for Manchester United in 2011 at the age of 16 after impressing in a skills session in Brussels. Towards the end of last year he was promoted to the first team by Sir Alex Ferguson however he did not feature until the Community Shield under David Moyes where he came on for Robin Van Persie.

Januzaj has shown signs of quality this year with passing and a few goals. The winger featured heavily at the start of the season when United were under the cosh but has featured rarely in the latter part of the season with the arrival of Juan Mata and return of Robin Van Persie after injury respectively. The Belgian's ability to run at players is his strongest attribute combined with a decent ability to score goals and pass the ball he's not a bad player.

United's "Fans" who I speak to on a regular basis rate Adnan Januzaj as one of the best in the league and will be one of the best in the world after their "One visit a season" to Old Trafford. I'm not denying he's a good player nor a bright prospect however I think he's massively overrated at this present time. The teenager runs the ball into trouble more than James McClean and I see the ball knocked about better by our very own Jordi Gomez. Adnan Januzaj is grossly overrated by United fans, he's good and will get better but he's not the next Lionel Messi.
