When it was announced we had signed Martyn Waghorn on loan till the end of the season I thought it was a fantastic signing. People questioned whether or not it was the right move for the club when we needed a striker to go after a player who has struggled to score goals in the last few seasons, yet the move has shown to pay off.
Uwe Rosler has then since taken the decision to sign the player on a permanent basis with the players contract up at the summer. Martyn comes in on a three year contract till the summer of 2017 and I can see being a very important part of the team under Rosler, he has those characteristics of being hungry and willing to work at the level of 120%.
Waghorn's time so far as been fantastic at the club, scoring three goal and making five assists since joining in nine league games. That under any circumstances is a decent return, hopefully he can continue that till the end of this season and help us return to the Premier League.
Both player and manager, speaking to the official website, have said how happy they are to have tied the deal down. Have to say personally I am really happy Martyn will be a Wiganer for the forseeable future has he has been a real instrumental part of the squad under Rosler.
Welcome to the gang Waghorn.
