Terrance Boyd
Last week Wigan were linked with Rapid Vienna striker Marcel Sabitzer, a deal had been in place for the striker; it wasn't anything to do with Wigan though. This week reports broke early on in Austria of a possible deal and it wasn't long before the English press jumped on the bandwagon.
What do we actually know? Well the player we are believed to be in for is 23 year old American international Terrance Boyd. Having a moth of German origin it is there where he spent most of his youth and spells with Herha BSC and Boroussia Dortmands 'B' teams. That was before a move to Rapid Vienna in 2012, since then he has gone on to play 59 times for the Austrian side scoring 28 goals.Terrance has featured 12 times for the USA national team, and just missed out on a place at this years World Cup.
Reportedly Vienna want a fee in the region of £3 million for the player, but with him being in the last year of his contract we could possibly get the player for half that amount. Talks are believed to be on going for the player at this time.
Jean Beasuejour
Still yet to commit his future to Wigan, the full back will be out of contract come the 30th June with another still on the table. Yet with the club having now signed two left full back you wonder if we could be saying goodbye to Jean. If so he will leave the club as a record holder as he arguably became the clubs first World Cup Goalscorer.
There is a certain technicality which you could argue sees Antolin Alcaraz have that mantel, the Paraguyan scoring at the last World Cup with his destination Wigan after signing a pre-contract agreement. What you can say beyond all doubt is that Jean was the first player to have played in a Wigan shirt and then go on to score at the World Cup Final's.
Now there is one for your next pub quiz!
Declan Gallagher
Celtic academy graduate who has just seen out his contract at Dundee United. With Gary Caldwell yet to sign a new deal it could be that Declan will come in to add to our defensive options should Gary depart. There has been hints that the player has been in talks with the club about a possible move since early last week, but there has been nothing solid.
Standing at 6ft5 he defiantly adds height to your defensive line and the age of 23 has that youthfulness that Uwe Rosler loves in his players. Is this one just a journalist trying to stir up interest? Or could there be a serious link to the player?
Stephen Crainey
After what I would call a fantastic end to the season by the aging Scottish full back it looks like he won't be rewarded with a new contract. At his age and with new fresher players coming into the team it has looked like Crainey will leave the team and now real interest from both Barnsley and reportedly former club Blackpool have surfaced.
Who ever does sign Crainey will have a dedicated player who showed at the back end of last season he can still cut it with the best. His best two performances being the FA Cup games against Manchester City and Arsenal.
