One area last season we didn't struggle in was our defensive capabilities. Okay our left side was a bit poor however following the signing of two new left backs you would have thought our defensive signings would be over. Well they look like they are set to continue as Rosler looks to bring in a young right back.
James Tavernier 22 year old right back who has managed just ten appearances for parent club Newcastle United, had a very impressive season at Rotherham United playing 28 games for them and bagging five goals bombing down their right hand-side. The Millers have shown interest in the player again this summer, and Newcastle have reportedly said the player can leave the club.
Rosler having got wind of this has shown interest in the player from the first. Early news in the summer saw Wigan lead the race for the defender with a deal in the region of £500,000 reportedly in the offering. Today the news is that we have agreed a deal with Newcastle, as to what the deal entails there isn't much news on that front.
What can be defiantly be confirmed today is that the club are chasing two players. Both Dave Whelan and Uwe Rosler have spoken to the local press saying we are looking at two players and that bids have been submitted for the players. One of these two players appears to be Tavernier, as to who the other will be only time will tell.
