The deal has been on the cards for a long time, and finally it has been all wrapped up and signed and sealed, as Wigan sign their third defender of the summer and Uwe Rosler continues his recruitment drive. James Tavernier comes to the club following a very successful loan spell at Rotherham United last season.
The defender has signed on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee which was initial reported to be around £500,000.
Speaking to the clubs official website Tavernier said.
"It has been a long summer and I’ve been waiting a long time to finalise the deal. Now that it has been completed, I am delighted.
"Wigan Athletic are a Premier League club and I’ve always known them to be a Premier League club and hopefully I can help to help get us back where we belong.
"Leeds and Newcastle are obviously big clubs and going into another big team like Wigan is great for me; the club have the same mentality and desire for success - I’m very happy."

Very much a Rosler signing, young ambitions and a player full of energy and passion. Rosler mentioned the player had been someone he had watched when he was manager of Brentford. Welcome to Wigan James!
