Andrew Taylor is a 27 year old former Middlesbrough FC and England under-21 international has agreed terms with the Wigan Athletic and becomes Uwe Rosler's first signing of the summer. It was expected that we would sign a new left back this summer, with Stephen Crainey and Jean Beausejour out of contract and Jean Carlos Gracia as of yet untested it was one of the key areas to look at.
What we have signed in Andrew Taylor is an experienced well respected footballer who will add really nicely into the squad. He fits the bill both in terms of players we like to see here at Wigan and also the Uwe Rosler mold of player, willing to work at 110% every game and willing to get forward and attack.
Taylor played 16 times last season for Cardiff, 15 of those coming in the Premier League. While over his three years has played a well rounded 100 games for the club. Not too bad at all, at the age of 27 you would be expecting him to be hitting that level of his peak as a full back.
He will join the club on a three year deal from Cardiff City, and talking to the club official website sounds excited by the chance to play for the club and work with Uwe Rosler.
Welcome to the Latics!
