Paper Talk: Weekly Round Up Monday 9th June

Looking back, it has been a very quite week for Latics. Well there is something going on in Brazil I have hear.

Mark Runnacles

Aaron Taylor Sinclair Signs

The second summer dealing saw us sign our second left back. Great signing by Rosler has the lads jumps ship on a free deal. Very excited about the lad at just 24 years old, his best years are to come and he comes with quite a reputation with him from Partick Thistle.

Classed as an attack minded full back, he has already mentioned his hope to follow in the foot steps of James McArthur and James McCarthy and cement a starting place in the Wigan line. As much as Taylor was the full back to to bring experience to the left side, Aaron will be the lad to bring the youth.

Jordi Gomez says Goodbye

The departing Spanish midfielder said he goodbyes to the club has he looks to start his new life at Sunderland. Very much the marmite of Wigan Athletic. Jordi leave with his best season being his last season at the club. Talking to the official site he said that the club will always have a found place in his heart.

Well considering you won the FA Cup, I am not surprised Jordi. He sees the move as a bigger and better thing, under Gus Poyet Sunderland could be heading places. But with interest from Germany and Spain I wonder why the North-East was a more favorable choice.

Shaun Maloney Everton Target?

Few media outlets were linking out Scottish international midfielder with a move to Everton. To me it shows sloppy and poor journalism in one respect. We all know that Shaun was a favorite of Roberto Martinez's when he was manager at Wigan, yet would he really fork out for the midfielder considering what he already has?

I would say that it is nothing expect media stirring the pot, but then sometimes you just never know. With Shuan entering the final year of his contract we may be tempted to sell up, however with Jordi Gomez having left the club can we lose another attack minded midfielder?

Roger's World Cup Build Up

Roger Espionza and Honduras continued their world cup build up against England on Saturday night, and the clubs official website spoke to the Honduran before the game and about the world cup. From how it reads looks like the Hondurans are going in feeling rather good considering a few poor friendly games in the build up.

Saying that, even with the use of some harsh tactics, if they can squeeze out results like the draw against England then maybe the could surprise a few. Honduras will be my second team I will cheer on come the World Cup this week.

Ben Watson Thanks the Club

Ben Watson spoke to the local paper and said how great it was to sign a year extension to his deal at the club. The midfielder who is out with his second broken leg in over two years, penned a deal more or less straight away after the incident against Bransley.

Ben said he was thankful to the club for wanting to keep him here, and hope to repay the favor by spurring us onto promotion upon his return. The Wigan midfield defiantly missed something at times with out Watson and midfield partner Chris McCann.
