New Home Kit
Latics unveiled their new home kit last week in time for the friendly game against Besiktas. The new kit which is modeled closely on the kit from the 2012/13 season sports a black collar and shorts. Showing the logo of new sponsors Intersport, the shirt made a winning start as Wigan beat Besiktas 2-1.
More Injuries
James McClean and Marc Antoine Fortune joined the injury list. McClean falling over in a training session and now has his ankle in a boot following a serious sprain. Reports suggested the player will be ruled out for the Germany trip and will say in England to recover. Fortune pulled up with a hamstring problem six minutes into the game against Besiktas, no further news has been given on Fortunes condition and you would expect it was more pre-cautionary than anything else.
Striker Targets
The club have been linked with several targets over the past few days, none of which have had any substantial backing to them. Some reported our interested on bring Nick Powell back on loan, while others had us chasing Lech Posnan star Lukasz Teodorczyk.
Are there any truth to these rumours? Currently I would say no has we still have to remove one of our own striker before we can dive in to sign anyone else. If we were to sign another striker though, I could easily see it being a loan player, or someone with a point to prove not someone coming in from another country.
Bolton Game Switch
Our away day game at Bolton Wanderers has been switched from the Saturday the 8th November to Friday 7th November. This mean our local derby is going to be available for all to view on Sky Sports.
Adam Clayton
The Huddersfield midfielder who they signed from Leeds United is supposedly a target for Uwe Rosler. The midfielder who was talisman figure for the Yorkshire side last season, has one year to go on his contract and reports yesterday suggest we are looking at bringing him in to replace Jordi Gomez. We apparently face competitionfrom Norwich City.
Grant Holt
After an okay performance against Rochdale at the weekend, Uwe Rosler decided that Holt hadn't shown enough to warrant a place in his squad. The striker has been omitted from the squad which is heading out to Germany and the players future is now more or less confirmed that he will be leaving the club.
Sam Allardyce and West Ham United are looking at the striker as a cheap cover option. Please let this be true!
Marcus Holgerson
To finish the Swedish defender we released a coupe of weeks ago has been on trail at Huddersfield Town in their Pre-season tour. It looked likely that he would be offered a contract by them. However it has been reported that the player is not signing for them and will have to look for playing opportunities elsewhere.
