It's been a tough start for Uwe Rosler's side this season but the Latics have picked up a bit of form in the past 2 games with consecutive home wins over Blackpool and Birmingham. Wigan have scored 9 in all competitions so far this season with Callum McManaman leading the way for goals with 4 and 1 of his goals being 1 of the 3 nominees.
My first goal is Oriol Riera's strike against Blackpool, the Spaniard has struggled for goal scoring form but scored his first in the 1-0 over the Seasiders. Callum McManaman controlled a James Perch cross to lay the ball off to Riera where the former Osasuna man took one touched and finished sublimely with his weaker foot to give Wigan all 3 points.
Next goes to Marc Antoine Fortune, the former Celtic man who was called up to the French Guiana squad this week got his goal in the 2-1 defeat at Burton Albion. Fortune with his back to goal controlled the ball, managed to wriggle away from 3 Burton Albion players and finish emphatically into the bottom corner of the net. A well taken goal from the ex West Brom striker.
The last but not least goes to Callum McManaman. McManaman has been Wigan's best player this season and put in a Man of the Match performance last time out in the 4-0 victory over Birmingham City. His first is my last nomination. McManaman completed a twisting and jerking solo run with a well placed effort 9 minutes in. McManaman sent Spurs loanee Grant Hall and former West Ham man Jonathan Spector in the wrong direction before he slotted the ball through Darren Randolph to start of Wigan's 4-0 thrashing of the Blues.
All well worked and well finished goals and mine goes to Callum McManaman. The former Everton man's quick feet and jerking runs earn him the Goal of the Month for August.
