Confirmed Transfer: Chris Herd Signs on Loan From Aston Villa

So we have sold an attacker today and we sign, yes that is right another defender.

The so far less than impressive Liam Ridgewell was signed earlier this month and we have now added Australian international Chris Herd to our team.

I am seeing a continuing theme in Malcky Mackay's dealings as Wigan manager and they are a little bit depressing. With another attacker out the door today, the club have moved to sign 25 year old Chris Herd form Aston Villa on a six month loan deal.

The defender who has experience at varying levels in the English footballing league system, could a very shrewd signing. 82 games of experience with most of that coming for Aston Villa in the Premier League and labelled as a utility player, although mostly known for his defensive roles, he will give you that option to drop him in anywhere.

The worrying thing is though that we aren't struggling overly defensively in games. If we were actually able to score goals we maybe winning them instead. Yet with attackers streaming out the door, we seem only interested in signing defenders.

Logic at its finest.
