With three defenders coming in and only so far one having left the club, another defender was bound to be heading out. That looks possibly to be young Rob Kiernan. The Northern Ireland defender, who clearly has talent, looks set for a exit with both Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City showing interest.
The question here would be why would we sell? The player clearly has potential, and the player isn't likely to be on a high wage. Talk of a loan deal would seem more appropriate and lets hope that is so. With it likely that Thomas Rogne won't be here come summer and with Chris Herd and Liam Ridgewell on loan, we could leave ourselves short of defenders in the long run.
The other rumour is circulating around a young Liverpool winger, 17 year old Sheyi Ojo. It has been reported that Mackay was at Liverpool's Under-21 game against Manchester United on Monday night. Now although Ojo was kept quiet by Paddy McNair, our manager is still reportedly interested in bringing the 17 year old to Wigan.
The deal would see the player join with us till the end of the season, with a clause that he can play for Liverpool's under-21s if he is not featuring for our first team. This one could have legs, and maybe a signing of the unknown may just be the spark we need.
