Quiet why our experienced Spanish striker hasn't been used by the club that much leaves me mystified. Oriol Riera was signed by Uwe Rosler over the summer and looked to be, on paper, a fantastic purchase. The player was at the height of his career after a fantastic season in La Liga combine that with his known physical style Riera looked like a player who could take the Championship by storm.
The problem was no manager has given him enough time, and that is just wrong.
From game on for me he has shown the talent he has, the goal he scored against Blackpool a prime example. It is also unbelievable the amount of time he has hit the wood work since arriving at the club. Yet having played only a meagre 13 games for the club, he is set for a return back to Spain.
The destination is Deportiva La Coruna. The deal has been in the offing for a while, and I hoped, that maybe the Grant Holt injury might just stop the club from shipping him out. It has become quite clear that for one reason or another the coaching staff don't seem to have taken to him.
Riera will be with Deportiva till the end of the current season.
