Confirmed Transfer: Liam Ridgewell Signs For Wigan

The worst kept secret of this transfer window has just gone through.

Liam Ridgewell, basically a former player of the three major teams in the midland area, as sign on a loan deal with Wigan Athletic. The player coming from Portland Timbers will be with us for a period of six weeks, which puts him with the club till mid February.

Of course great to see a player of his experience come into the club, and hopefully will be able to shore up what has been for the most part a misfiring defence for Latics this season.

Malckay Mackay speaking to the official club website said:

"As soon as we found out Liam was a possibility, we moved quickly. We have him until the start of the MLS season in mid-February and hopefully we can make good use of his experience in that time."

"He is a top-pro who has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League but he also knows this league inside out having earned promotion with Birmingham and he will add the kind of experience that will be crucial to us at this time."

Will be very interesting to see how Lima slots into the team. With him being left footed is this the player who will come in on the left side of our three defensive centre back? Would make sense if he does. The other question is will he feature against his former club Birmingham City at the weekend?
