The club roared back into life this week with two deals completed over Friday night as the club looks to begin the rebuild job.

Noise on Friday that the club was close to a deal, who or what was a different matter all together but in the end it was done as we signed ex Rotherham United player and Welsh international Craig Morgan on a free transfer. The defender had been linked with the club earlier in the window and he completed a deal signing with us for two years.

The 29 year old choose to sign for us ahead of local rivals Bolton Wanderers. That is likely to go down well for his career here with Latics. Morgan has had previous spells with Peterborough and Preston North End and signs with plenty of both League One and Championship experience. A very good signing on a free transfer.

Heading out the door, and no surprise, is Scott Carson. With the signing of Richard O'Donnell from Walsall on a free transfer the writing was on the wall for the former England international. Having been signed by Owen Coyle and number one under both Malckay Mackay and Uwe Rosler.

The reduction of the wage bill has well now started. With the futures of some players still to be decided this is going to the be the start of a very busy summer at the DW Stadium.
