Confirmed Transfer: Irish Duo Set to Depart

There has been an awful amount of speculation this week about players and it appears now that two of them are all but out the door from the DW Stadium.

James McClean has made it apparent from the start that he would like to leave the club. Which for me is completely fine. The fans player of the season last year is expected to complete a £1.5 million down to West Bromwhich Albion only two years after we paid a third of that sum.

It was inevitable the player would go and in all honesty it is probably a good thing. McClean may have been one of our stand out performers last year but he was by no means our best player. He has the legs and the attitude to make it at a good level but sometimes his decision making in the final third has a lot to be asked about. Either way we are likely to make some money on the player and get his wages out of the club when he doesn't want to be here. Wins alround really.

The other player set to depart is 24 year old Rob Kiernan. The player who spent most of last season on loan at Birmingham City had been wanted back by the Midlands club and it was expected that he would complete a deal with them.

However with Mark Warburton taking over at Rangers and very keen on our defender the tables have been turned and Kiernan is heading up north after pulling out of any Birmingham deal. Warburton and Kiernan go back to the players days at Watford and you can see why he would choose to head across the boarder.

It is a shame that he didn't want to stay as I am a big fan of the defender and do expected him to have enough talent to go some way in the game once he gets some more experience playing at different levels. Someone just needed to have the confidence in playing him.

Any deal for the player is said to be in the region of £200,000.
