First off is Malcky Mackay's ill fated January signing of Billy Mckay. The striker who signed from Inverness CT for a fee in the region of £150,000 was never really given his chance to shine in a Wigan shirt under the previous management. Left on the bench and rarely given game time, you wondered if the club would allow him to leave and move on.
Over the past 24 hours there has been growing interest from Dundee United who are ready to splash the cash to get the striker. In Mckay's previous spell in Scotland he scored 54 goals in 121 matches, not a bad return at all.
Two bids have reportedly been lodge, and both would see Wigan make a return on the player. Our response has been a resounding no deal from Gary Caldwell and team. The striker then went on to feature in last nights pre-season game against Altrincham and scored a wonder goal.
The other player being yet again linked with a move away from the club is our Welsh midfielder Emyre Huws. The 21 year old missed most of last season due to injuries, however out of Uwe Roslers signings he looked likely to be the player with the one most likely to fullfill his potential.
Now though the player is being increasingly linked to Burnley and Cardiff City. Are the rumors true? Well the player hasn't featured in the pre-season squads for the past two games which could mean the player is looking to leave. Like wise after such a long time out injured the player may be undergoing other forms of training and therefore currently not in the side.
Losing Huws would be a big blow to the club, he is the kind of player that we could and should be building a team around for the forthcoming seasons.
