Club News: Callum McManaman Signs till 2017

The talented young winger will continue his association with the club till 2017. The wingers contract was close to expiring and Owen Coyle has moved quickly to change things and stop any circling vultures from trying to sign the 22 year old.

After a sensational six months at the end of last season, the winger exploded into the world of football and the thoughts and minds of many fans up and down the country. His heroics in cup and league games helped us to stay a float in the league as long as we could, as well as helping us to the final of the FA Cup.

This season the winger has struggled. A combination of a lack of pre-season, suspension and then lack of game time has meant that Callum McManaman hasn't had a good start. The signs of his brilliance and menace have been hinted at, getting to the by-line and looking for the cut back. It will only be a matter of time before he returns to the top of his game.

On the same day that the club signs a player to give him some competition in the short term, Owen Coyle commits to keeping the player for the long term with a four year contract.

Both player and manager have expressed their delight at getting the deal done, and Callum even talks about his thanks to the Wigan fans, who in our numbers we have backed the lad as we have seen him progress. A true Wiganer who has pride in the shirt.

Long may that continue.
