Club News: Wigan and Rosler Shine in Championship

Well the club and manager have both been doing rather well over the past few weeks, and that has been shown today. The team winning the performance of the weekend, and Rosler being nominated for the Championship manager of the month for February. Hard work does pay off.

Stu Forster

First lets talk about how well the lads played against Nottingham Forest at the weekend. I will be, as many Forest fans will be, quick to point out that it was a very injury hit team Latics faced at the City Ground at the weekend. Nether the less it was still a relatively strong team Wigan faced at the weekend.

The game was more or less all Wigan, as the lads executed Uwe Rosler's game plan to perfection. One special player to mention was the performance of Jordi Gomez who did shine in the midfield role Rosler gave him, more of the same please Jordi.

The LMA website had this to say:

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Wigan Athletic following their excellent 4-1 away win against Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship on 1 March 2014.

So the team got an award, and the manager could also be in line for one. After only one defeat, that being the very unlucky 1-0 defeat away at Huddersfield, Uwe Rosler has been nominated for February's manager of the month. He is nominated alongside Steve McLauren, Sean Dyche and Giuseppe Sannino.

Good luck Uwe, you deserve some recognition for just how much you have turned this Wigan side around the past few months.
