Club News: Lifeline after Rotherham Points Deduction

Unlike West Ham and the Carlos Tevez saga, the football league have stuck to their guns and docked Rotherham points. It keeps us in the hunt for survival.

Rotherham United 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion. That result over the Easter weekend looked to possibly spell Rotherham's survival in the Championship. Yet there is now huge turn in the tail as the three points won by Rotherham that day have been taken away from them.

It all stems from Rotherham playing on loan Derby County defender Farrend Rawson, who's loan deal with the club had actually ended the Friday before. Rotherham though argued they had extended the deal only for the player to head back to Derby.

The punishment for fielding an ineligible player is very consistent in the football league, if you gain points from the game you lose those points. That is what we have seen and it now means both us and Millwall have a chance of survival.

The gap between ourselves and Rotherham closes to two points. the Millers though have a game in hand. All is now to play for, if we win our next two games then maybe we would be set to over turn the deficit.
