Match Report
The after match thoughts
Wigan Athletic 1-1 Peterborough United
Teams are going to see us as a scalp to be had and we need to be able to step up our game and perform. Unfortunately for a combination of reasons we weren’t quite able to do that against Peterborough yesterday and in the end the points went both ways
Millwall 0-0 Wigan Athletic
This for me was going to be the toughest test of our credentials that we would have for a while. The team stood up to them and came away with a very hard fought point, a point which could prove the difference come the end of the season.
Wigan Athletic 0-0 Oldham Athletic
A stalemate at the DW Stadium as the realization of how tough this league can be came crashing down on the Wigan faithful. Yet a hard and well earnt point for the men of Oldham.
Wigan Athletic 3-2 Gillingham FC
I am not quite sure how we managed it but last night we managed to bag three very important points and what a way to win the game it was!
Match Report: Scunthorpe United 1-1 Wigan Athletic
Another way game for the festive period and out first of 2016, would the game bring all we wished it could have? That is up for debate as Wigan created chance after chance only to see them fail to go into the back of the net.
Match Report: Fleetwood Town 1-3 Wigan Athletic
The last game of 2015 and after mixed form of the past month of so Wigan Athletic are looking to get back on track. With the Boxing Day game postponed Wigan were fresher going into this game and Gary Caldwell was looking for a response.
Rochdale 0-2 Wigan Athletic
Last weekend’s game against Rochdale was a chance to make it ten unbeaten games in the League. Following an up and down week previously you wondered just who Gary Caldwell would pick to be in his starting 11.
A Tale of Two Ties
One week and two cup games. The team progressing in one competition and in the other we failed miserably as we crashed out. The surprising thing was the variety in our performances from one game to another.
Wigan Athletic 1-0 Swindon Town
Keeping the moment up is key if we want to challenge at the top of table. With the teams around us playing each other and us playing a team down at the bottom.
Bradford City 1-1 Wigan Athletic
Three games in a week and Wigan come away with seven points having scored nine and conceded only three. Not a bad return really and shows the jumps in performances that the team is making right now.
Peterborough United 2-3 Wigan Athletic
After the emphatic weekend win the fans and team were very much expectant to keep the form going. Gary Caldwell made no changes going into the game, the team looked ready and raring. Question was could they supply the end product.
Wigan Athletic 5-0 Colchester United
Yes you did read the title right, Wigan Athletic managed to bag five goals at the weekend in what you can only hope will be a kick start to the season.
Wigan Athletic 0-0 Walsall FC
Back to back home games and only two points to show for it. Not what we were hoping for, but in the end we were lucky to come away with a point against a very well drilled Walsall side looking to reach the summit of League One.
Wigan Athletic 2-1 Fleetwood Town
Another away day disappointment last weekend against Port Vale and with injuries and suspensions the club is starting to look thin in certain positions. The weekend’s home game against Fleetwood would therefore turn into a test of our depth
Port Vale 3-2 Wigan Athletic
After the heroics last weekend I think we all believed that the season would start here. How wrong could we be? 90 minutes where yet again we looked good in patches, but not good enough. One good thing, we keep scoring goals!
Chesterfield FC 2-3 Wigan Athletic
Wigan away form this season has been, well non existent. The players needed to put that right and they did so in spectacular fashion against one of League One's top performers last season.
Wigan Athletic 1-0 Crewe Alexander
Wigan maintained their unbeaten home record and showed that even when they don't play brilliantly they can grind out the win.
Brentford 3-0 Wigan Athletic
The final game of the season with nothing to play for, there were changes in the team. That wouldn't allow us to avoid defeat though.
Survival Chances Gone?
An impressive team performance, which saw us lacking that finishing touch in front of goal. Unfortunately our safety is now out of our own hands, and we have to hope for other to now slip up.
Mauled at the Den
Our survival chances came crashing down on Tuesday night, the next three games are still important; that is if we can win them. Gary Caldwell though has three games to test his squad and just see who he should be keeping on.
Millwall FC vs Wigan Athletic
Seven points adrift and four games to go, it is getting close to the end at the bottom of the table as the two teams fighting for survival face off on a Tuesday night clash at the Den. The winner keeps their hopes of survival alive.
Gary Getting His Groove On
The new gaffer took control of his first game, and well he disappoint did he?
Derby Disaster
The results went against us, and yesterday's lost was probably the inevitable nail in the coffin for us staying in the Championship. It was defiantly the final nail in the coffin for our manager who has since been moved on.
Beaten By Bamford
Against a team fighting for promotion it was going to be hard, and we pushed them close in a good Friday game where we were hoping to rise from the dead and starts getting to wins.
Devastating Deeney
Two home games which could have put us right back in contention for survival, and the first one has managed to pass us completely by. The return of Leon Clarke, along with our two new attacking additions brought hope; that would soon extinguished.
Wigan Win Six Pointer
A must win game and yet again, away from home, we won! The travelling fans really got behind the team as we closed the gap to six points on Fulham and Rotherham United.
Wigan Athletic 0-1 Leeds United
The game signified the start of the ear of David Sharpe at home and maybe, hopefully a return to winning ways on the DW pitch. The game that followed would typify our season and our relegation prospects would be sent scattering to the sky.
Back to Back Wins for Latics
Pinch me I must be dreaming. Two wins in the space of five days, as the David Sharpe era starts off with a bang. A sign of things to come from the new look Wigan Athletic?
Beating Blackpool
The battle of the two bottom clubs and Wigan Athletic came out on top. It gives the club, players and supporters renewed hope that maybe we can get out of this mess.
Jackyll and Hyde
Combing two games and a few days which has left all Wigan fans wondering just what we have to do for something to go our way.
Forest Fire
Well I got my hopes up following the Bournemouth game but it wasn't to be. While I was in bed all week with a splitting headache, our defence split in two as we let a stuttering Forest side get back to winning ways.
Beaten By Bournemouth
The high flying costal team of Bournemouth came to play the helpless Wigan in a list of games which must have had the managerial staff worried. A draw against Ipswich last time out gave us hope though.
